Amelia Baffa is a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing Practice for Strategic Healthcare Group LLC. Ms Baffa received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Lakeland Community College in 1989; she received her graduate degree in Masters of Science in Nursing, with a specialization in education, from Walden University in 2011. Her primary areas of study, the impact of simulation based training on clinical behavioural responses, and the development of a board certification program for Transfusion Safety Officers. She has over 25 years of clinical and managerial experience in areas of adult and pediatric hematology- oncology, surgical intensive care, trauma, neonatology, pediatric vascular access, and pediatric sedation. For the past decade she has focused her attention on blood management program development and created models of patient care delivery within the University Hospitals Case Medical Center (UHCMC) system and in the Cleveland Clinic Western Market Division, both members of the University Healthcare Consortium. Her primary interest is to promote sustainable change within healthcare organizations through education and training in the area of evidenced based blood management practice specific to nursing’s role in transfusion safety, and professional practice standards.
